20 years with responsible investment
28 August 2020
Today, we publish a management review of the last 20 years of responsible investing. The publication describes our journey and strategy and provides insight into the choices we have made and the experiences we have gained.
-We have gone from being a small and reluctant owner to becoming a large and active owner in more than 9000 companies. I am proud of the work that has been done and what we have achieved over the last two decades, says CEO Yngve Slyngstad in Norges Bank Investment Management.
The fund’s long-term return is dependent on sustainable growth, well-functioning markets and good corporate governance. The fund considers governance and sustainability issues that could have an impact on the fund’s performance over time, and integrates these issues into our work on establishing principles, our long-term ownership and our investing
"We have made significant progress in our ownership work. Today we have better data, broader and more clarified expectations of companies, increased company interaction, more transparency about our voting, and we engage more systematically with standard setters. We will continue to adapt and improve our responsible investment activities to safeguard and create value for future generations", says Chief Corporate Governance Officer Carine Smith Ihenacho.
The publication is only available in English.
