- Anne Kvam is an ideal candidate for this post. Her experience in the field of international business, board affairs and legal expertise is combined with a solid grounding in the values underlying our work, says Knut N.Kjær, head of Norges Bank Investment Management. He adds that there was considerable interest in this post and that many solid candidates were considered.

- A solid groundwork for this work has been laid by Henrik Syse and his colleagues and I will continue working from that basis. NBIM has the strong ambition of being a clear and demanding global owner, and I am looking forward to carrying this work forward, says Anne Kvam.

Norges Bank invests in equities in more than 3 500 companies. Corporate governance is about how ownership interests are exercised in these companies and their influence on the companies and markets in which NBIM invests. According to the ethical guidelines drawn up by the Ministry of Finance for the Government Pension Fund – Global, the primary objective of Norges Bank’s exercise of ownership rights is to safeguard the financial interests of the Fund and promote long-term sustainability in the markets.

Kvam will take up the post on 1 January 2008. Syse will continue as head of Corporate Governance until Kvam takes up the post.
